Okay folks, just a head's up...I'm working security at a local anime convention and will be busy ALL DAY FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY; note that I'm currently working on BOTH 'The Little Immortal' & 'Pebble and the Unicorn' and in the meantime, have a ramble a'la Stan Rants: ~~~
Having just finished the Nostalgia Critic's review of Tim Burton's "billion dollar Alice fanfic" (watch me: thatguywiththeglasses.com/vide… ); I must feel the need to voice something that's irked me for a while...what is this current obsession with making Alice in Wonderland so damn dark?! I mean besides the unnecessary epic war-prophecy whoozawasit of the Burton film; we have American McGee presenting us with a dark, traumatized Alice wielding a knife and dealing with a bloody, gory, dark, gloomy Wonderland out to kill her or drive her insane (not exactly fond of the fact that the Critic used THIS Alice for his "review partner"); Zenescope cranked that up past eleven with their godawful grimdark "Return to Wonderland" comic series; there was that just plain disturbing 1988 Czech film, then there was the 2009 crime drama mini-series; manga and anime have gone all over the place from lesbians to Pandora Hearts; I stumbled across a 1999 BBC audio-play that, while still quite decent and a pretty faithful adaptation of the book, still felt a bit dirty listening to (what with Alice constantly moaning and whimpering during her growth scenes...yeeeeaah ); and we have this "Once Upon A Time In Wonderland" which is less Alice and more "THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE MAIN SHOW. HAVE SOME OTHER DISNEY CHARACTERS! JAFAR! GENIE!!!"....
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but can't we just go back to having a fun, whimsical, wacky Alice in Wonderland celebrating good-natured innocent nonsense like that classic animated TRUE BLUE Disney version and not needlessly bog it down with all the dark, emo, goth, violent, depressing, druggy subtext to it? Not saying there shouldn't be dark elements whatsoever, quite honestly I really do like the point the Critic raised about a legitimate threat for Wonderland being a villain seeking to impose sense and order upon this world of mad nonsense. The Lego Movie proved the concept does work and now I kinda want to do a Tim Burton Alice fanmake with that concept in mind....
It's just really annoying to see that about 99.9% of the Alice-related stuff on Fanfiction.net is either based on Burton or McGee's!: www.fanfiction.net/search.php?…

HOLY CRAP! WE CAN EMBED VIDS IN JOURNALS NOW?!?!

HOLY CRAP! WE CAN EMBED VIDS IN JOURNALS NOW?!?!
Little Hellhound: Did Ya Know...?
Jayhound's in heavy development and I'm just trying to enjoy the end of an admittedly turbulent year, so I figured I'd just share some trivia for funsies~ Did you know…? 1) Several Songs from the Broadway Version were Ultimately Scrapped. “World Above” didn’t fit either Loona or Blitzo…”Beyond My Wildest Dreams” also didn’t fit Loona’s character…”Sweet Child” was cut for something more jazzy…and “Human Stuff” was accidentally omitted due to oversight and we didn’t want to go back and re-include it. 2) This story was initially a mostly-original Beauty and the Beast fanmake. Ultimately decided to adapt the Little Mermaid instead, tho many elements carried over… 3) The main friend group of Adam, Tecna, Bloom, and Wasabi [a carryover from Beau and the Canis] was inspired by the main party of FFXV. No joke…Adam is Noctis, Tecna is Ignis, Bloom is Prompto, and Wasabi is Gladilous. SERIOUSLY. I’M NOT JOKING. XD 4) Originally Verosika’s final form was far more purely Chernabog-like
X92's Spirited Away
Reviving this idea a little bit...a Spirited Away fanmake set in a Celtic region with fair folk instead of spirits~ Cast: Chihiro/Sen: Bloom Peters (Winx Club; given the name of “Quinn”) Haku: Sky (Winx Club; griffin instead of dragon) Yubaba: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) Lin: Loona (Helluva Boss) w/ Adam (OC) as an extra No-Face: Venom (Marvel) Kamaji: Hellboy (Darkhorse Comics) Zeniba: Prince Stolas (Helluva Boss) Boh: Ember (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; more territorial than bratty) Kashira: Balthazar the Spriggan (Maleficent 2014) Yu-Bird: Diablo (Sleeping Beauty) Chichiyaku: Beast (Beauty and the Beast) Aogaeru: One-Eyed Wally (Amphibia) Aniyaku: ??? Yuna: ??? Bath Foreman: ??? Nosy Employee: ??? Radish Spirt: ??? Stink Spirit/River God: ??? Susuwatari: Mome Raths (Alice in Wonderland) Parents: Mike and Vanessa Peters (Winx Club)
THE LITTLE HELLHOUND CONTINUES
With @Tohokari-Steel 's Jaden 2 now complete, work on the crossover set between Hellhound 1 and 2 has begun! Won't be ready until 2024, but it'll be worth the wait! Read it here and play catch-up! https://www.deviantart.com/tohokari-steel/gallery/86684301/legend-of-jaden
X92's Spirited Away (next solo fic)
Can't quite give a start date but after a long long search, I realized what animated film I wanna adapt next...one of my personal favorites. Critically acclaimed and brimming with potential~ SPIRITED AWAY! But with a noticeable setting change...instead of the japanese mythology and setting, I'm going for something more celtic...less yokai and more fair-folk. :D Casting is still underway, but I can share a few~ Chihiro: Bloom (Winx Club) Haku: Sky (Winx Club) Yubaba: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) Lin: Loona (Helluva Boss) w/ Adam (OC) as an extra No-Face: Beast (Beauty and the Beast) Zeniba: Stolas (Helluva Boss) Kamaji: Hellboy (Darkhorse Comics) Aogaeru: Wally (Amphibia) hopefully this comes soon~

... The original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland tales were pretty screwed up too.
